Wearing contact lenses gives patients the flexibility and freedom to live life to the fullest, without some of the difficulties presented by wearing eyeglasses. Many people who choose contact lenses do so because they don’t like the way that eyeglasses look or feel, or because wearing eyeglasses compromises their ability to perform certain tasks or activities, such as sports or jobs that require the use of safety goggles.

There are lots of different contact lenses to choose from, with two of the most popular being daily disposables and toric lenses.

Understanding Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Contact Lenses

Not all contact lenses are designed to be replaced on the same schedule. Your eye doctor will recommend a lens based on your prescription, eye health, lifestyle, and budget.

Daily Disposable Contact Lenses
Daily lenses are worn once and discarded at the end of the day. A fresh, new pair is used each morning, so there is no cleaning, storage, or maintenance required. Many patients choose daily lenses for their convenience, comfort, and simplicity. They are an excellent option for busy lifestyles, travel, sports, and occasional wear.

Weekly Contact Lenses
Weekly replacement lenses are designed to be worn for seven days before being replaced with a new pair. These lenses require nightly cleaning and storage but offer a balance between convenience and value. Because lenses are replaced more frequently than monthly lenses, patients often enjoy a consistently fresh lens experience throughout the week.

Monthly Contact Lenses
Monthly lenses are worn daily and replaced every 30 days. They must be cleaned and stored properly each night. Monthly lenses are often a cost-effective choice for full-time contact lens wearers and are available in a wide range of prescription options, including specialty designs for astigmatism and multifocal needs.

Which Lens Is Right for You?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some patients prioritize convenience and prefer daily disposables, while others are looking for a balance of value and performance with weekly or monthly replacement lenses. During your contact lens evaluation, we'll help determine the best option based on your vision needs, eye health, and lifestyle.
